Packers HC Mike Sherman has got to be at his wits end in regards to his team’s romance with penalties this season. He has grown so tired of watching his CB hold and interfere (Al Harris has 10 penalties) that he made Ahmad Carroll (8 flags) wear boxing gloves in practice to keep his hands off of receivers.
The tactic obviously didn’t work as the Packers were flagged 12 times for more than 100 yards against Jacksonville last week in their 28-25 loss at home. GB is 6th in the league with 890 penalty yards and today could be a possible nightmare as they try and slow down Randy Moss.
Moss missed the last game between these two at Lambeau as GB won but failed to cover the 34-31 final. That leads me to the reasoning behind using the Packers today: The visiting team has now covered 4 straight in this series including GB 30-27 win here last season.
The Vikings possess a defense that is in the bottom 11 in total defense and ranks #23 defending the run giving up more than 125 YPG. Look for Ahman Green (1086 YR 6 TD) to factor huge today.
